Well drained it as much as I could, got at least 90% out of the pump. Poured the clear power steering fluid in. Cut the noise in half and now have better power while turning the wheel. Belt still squeks a smidge at start up but only for a sec then nothing. So Im not sure what to do...mabey wait?

With the ATF it was twice as loud and I had twice as much play in the steering wheel. Now with just clear powersteering fluid in it dosn't make any noise really and I have mabey an inch of play in the steering wheel. I think it is an improvment...If it goes it goes and Ill just get another anyway.
I didn't think a saginaw was possible on the 4.9L...either way it works alot better for me.
New thing though, when its warmed up and above 90 outside it squeks for ever! even after I rev it a bit...any thoughts? My next idea is to just swap the old belt tensioner out...

And play in the wheel has no relationship whatsoever to anything that is or is not happening in the pump. It can be worn components in the front suspension or steering linkage or it can be a problem with the steering box itself. And 1" is WAY too much.
Is the noise coming from the pump, the pulleys or the slipping of the belt. Once the belt slips and gets glazed it will continue to slip even if there is no other problem

I would say there is a difference in the steering wheel itself, I used to be able to move from left to right with about 3" of play the front end wouldn't move at all. I may have an inch now, but I drove around town and has seem to have gotten better. Could just be me...lol.
The noise is the belt for sure, the belt has less then 100 miles on it so I know it cant be a glazed belt. I had my fiance start the truck while I watched and couldn't really see which pully it was. They all gripped, and they are all square...So I would say it has to be the belt tensioner?

Will have to call around and see what I can find...But since I will really never get over a 32" tire I dont think I will really need that. lol
