They do have a pats system (passive antilock theft system). Basically a chip in your key that enables the truck computer to start. I would say not too easy. To get into is very easy but to steal would be a different story without the key.

I'd track the keys, do you have all of them in your possession? If so, it was most likely towed.

26 hour old 1st and only post ..... I'ld say there's a good chance "Repo'd" is right.

Reminds me .... I was working midnight shift once in my rural county and driving up Rt 11 and at 2-3 am I saw a car hauler TT in the parking lot of an old derelict gas station that hadn't been used in "years", he had his park lights on. I saw his ramps down and he had two vehicles on it already. I stopped and approached and found he was one half a repo-team.

While I was talking to the one, the other half arrived with a Escalade in tow. He had a special set up on a truck where he could hook or ****** and go without ever leaving the cab.

Inside connection at the dealer can get you a key made by vin. I'm not sure if locksmiths have the ability to make them or not.

Yeah, they get a contract from the lender and then they can get a key made that will fit. Not sure what they do about the coding? Seems to me they drove the Escalade up onto the trailer while I was still there in the P-lot. Maybe they winched it? I was back in my car then making some notes in my log or something.

i repo for a living ... it takes 30 minutes to program a key to the computer system on a ford without a programmer ... a programmer runs about 6-8 grand so im pretty sure it was stolen another way ...if you program without a programmer you have to set and reset the key system in 10 minute intervals and its a PITA

If you ever get a minute to watch TV, look up The TV show "American Underworld" Season 1 Episode 2: entitled Car/Identity Theft.

They stole a 2006 Chevy Silverado in like 3 mins. That includes pulling the PCM... Pretty interesting. Had the truck stripped and redone in 26 hours or something like that.

Not trying to scare you, just info I saw on the TV a few weeks ago.

i saw that episode. It was crazy. If they want your truck bad enough, they will find a way to take it. Kind of scary.
